Tourists need not carry extra clothes while enjoying the Simhastha fair in Ujjain as the fair administration has decided to provide service of washing machines at nodal points free-of-cost.

The Simhastha fair administration has invited proposals from companies and institutions to offer any kind of services to pilgrims under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Deputy fair officer S S Rawat told HT that one leading electronic appliances manufacturing company has offered to install washing machines to clean garments of seers and devotees.

“We have allotted them four plots: two in Dutta akhara and one each in Mahakal and Mangalnath zones with seven machines at each spot,” Rawat said. The company will deploy employees to receive and deliver cleaned clothes to people at these kiosks.

Mahakal darshan to be broadcast live

The company has also donated 30 big LED screens which would be put at different points to broadcast Mahakal darshan live to devotees. Police has made it clear that devotees might be barred entry to mahakal temple during certain days of Simhastha when they will only be able to see darshan on LEDs.

Similarly, a leading pharmaceutical company will serve acidity tablets and pain spray to devotees for free. A Mumbai-based company will distribute two crore shoe carry bags and stalls are being erected at prominent temples for the purpose.

Rawat said several companies are willing to provide similar services to pilgrims.

Akhara parishad president Narendra giri said the parishad and administration would honour companies for such services.
