Chief Secretary Anthony DeSa along with a team will take stock of arrangements being made for Nabakalebar Mahotsav to be held at Puri in Odisha next month. The Chief Secretary will also apprise officers of Odisha of preparations being made for Simhastha at Ujjain. During video conferencing PRAGATI (Pro Active Governance and Timely Implementation) on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked DeSa to take stock of preparations being made for Nabkalebar Mahotsav at Puri in July to ensure better arrangements for Simhastha and also apprise Odisha Government of his experiences. This Mahotsav is held every 12 years.Side by side review of preparations for Simhastha-2016 at meetings during last one and half years, Chief Secretary has also inspected works by visiting Ujjain.
The Chief Secretary assured the Prime Minister to visit Odisha along with a team of experts and officers.The Prime Minister also asked Chief Secretary of Maharashtra to visit Odisha to take advantage of experience for next Kumbh at Nasik.Construction of 155-km-long Indore to Gujarat road was also reviewed during Wednesday’s video conferencing. The work was pending since 16 km stretch of the road fell in forest area. Union Environment Secretary informed that recommendation has been received recently from National Wildlife Board. Chief Secretary DeSa informed that meeting has been held with officers of National Highways Authority of India.Earlier, this work could not be completed as it was abandoned by concerning construction agency. Union Secretary Surface Transport informed that work of road upto 139 kms will be completed this year. This was Prime Minister’s 4th video conferencing with States’ Chief Secretaries.
