PWD Min sets Dec deadline for completion of Simhastha development works« Back

Ujjain : Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Sartaj Singh on his visit to Simhastha development works set the deadline of December 2015 to finish all the projects taken up by the department. PWD has taken up projects of road and bridge construction worth Rs 720 crore.

Minister Singh on his visit to the city of Ujjain directed PWD to finish all the development projects by December 2015, during a meeting here on Thursday. He also directed officials to maintain quality in the works.Chief engineer informed that the department has taken the project of road construction worth Rs549 crore and building of 11 bridges with the cost of Rs 171 crore. They include four railway-over bridges.The culvert connecting Ramghat and DuttAkhara will be heightened to 1.5 feet.

MLA Mohan Yadav suggested increasing the height of the culvert so that a motor boat can pass under it. A proposal of widening the inner ring road in urban area was put up by MLA Yadav. He also demanded road construction from Lalpur to UdyogpuriDhatravdaas per the master plan.Nagda MLA Dilip Singh Shekhawat urged Minister Singh at the meeting that a railway over bridge should be built over the railway crossing located at Nagda-Khachrod road. There seems long traffic jam due to Delhi-Mumbai railway line. Minister directed Bridge Corporation to prepare a proposal of the railway over bridge. MLA also demanded building of a road from Bahlola to KhachrodChamunda Mata. It will benefit around 50 villages of the area.

PWD Minister Singh after the meeting made inspection of development works on Thursday.Singh visited the railway over bridge being built on Chintaman and Badnagar Road with the cost of Rs 24 crore. The bridge will be completed till December. Bridge Corporation officer ShobhaKhannainformed the Minister that they are position to finish the work of the bridge by December 2015. They have taken permission to shut down broad gauge line for eight hours.He also visited outer ring road connecting Ujjain-Indore Road, Hariphatak widening work, Mangalnathbridge and ghats. He also paid visit to the cement concrete roads built at fair area.Khanna informed that one of the arms of Hariphatak over bridge toward Indoregate has been widened to 36 meter. There would be no problem for heavy vehicles to take turn on the bridge.

PWD has started construction of ghats near Mangalnath temple on Kshipra. The department has planned to beautify the ghats on Kshipra. Chief engineer RK Sawla and other officials were present.
