Ujjain : Every ghat located on the banks of Kshipra River will be refurbished before Simhastha fair, directives relating to these were issued to the Irrigation Department, by divisional commissioner Dr Ravindra Pastor in the latest work review meeting held here on Monday.
The Public Works Department (PWD) who faced music over delay in the works was directed to double the width of Kartik Mela Ground to Mullapura link road, currently the road is 7 meters wide. Similarly link road to Maksi Road over bridge to Maksi will be widened to 10 meters. The commissioner also cautioned the engineers to present the exact expenditure before the media via the public relation office within given time limits. Also the irrigation and public works department were given a time limit of September to finish their work. The irrigation department id working on 31 projects and have finished 10 projects till now, 16 are under works and 5 are proposed.
The PWD (Path and Building)is way behind their target as only 7 out of 100 sanctioned works to the department have been completed and 112 crores have been spent by the department till now. Likewise is the condition of the E&M department where 19 out of 21 sanctioned works are under progress and 2 sites are yet to start. The Bridge department is working on 12 out of 13 works, with an expenditure of Rs 104 crores.
The Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) is working on 9 projects out of 18 given works and have expended around Rs 9 crores till now. The municipal corporation has taken in hand 48 crores with initial expenditure of Rs 73.75, but only 26 works are in progress. The Simhastha Mela Authority is working on 7 projects with a cost of 46.29 crores. Collector Kavindra Kiyawat, Meal officer Avinash Lavania, ZP CEO Ruchika Chouhan and many other officers and department officials were present in the meeting.
