Cops plan tight security blanket for Simhastha« Back

Indore: After security agencies sounded an alert in Ujjain following recovery of large cache of explosives from the temple town of Ujjain on Saturday, police have beefed up security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the month-long Simhastha festival, beginning from April 22. Over 5 crore people are expected to attend the month long mahakumbh.

About 25,000 police jawans have been deployed for round the clock monitoring and crowd management. Of them, 50% were deployed on duty during last Kumbh. Every activity will be monitored day and night through 500 CCTVs installed at 125 different locations. More than Rs 47 crore will be spent on security arrangements during the mega congregation. Besides, 60 labrador breed sniffer dogs and 85 horses will be used for patrolling.

Administration have also decided to put up 55 temporary police stations, 230 watch towers, 130 pan-tilt-zoom cameras, 200 drop gates, 42 parking points and drone cameras to keep an eye during Simhastha.
